Enabling Cifs share via alias/cname in DNS

By default it is not possible to access a Windows cifs share via a DNS alias/cname. This is due to something called  Strict Name Checking

You can disable this by adding the following key to registry

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters
DWORD – DisableStrictNameChecking = 1

Restart Server service
